We had the pleasure of meeting Paulo several times, what a great and modest man, absolutely passionate about what he is doing and creating. Stays true to his local heritage and love for the fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Well prepared beautiful and flavorful dishes. Absolutely loved it. We enjoyed the Classic tasting menu, but would love to come back for his new Tradition tasting menu. Thank you Paulo, it was a pleasure meeting you and we are already look forward to coming back again. And make sure to also visit his newly opened second restaurant Douro, in Porto.

Fantastic black pork neck with a potato/celeriac puree. Excellent! Service was on-point as was the wine recommendation, solid Duoro red, not nearly the most expensive. This was followed by a triple strawberry desert that took the socks off our feet. All this in front of a replica 16rh century Portuguese ship, the Nau Quinhentista, in Vila do Conde. We'll worthy of the Michelin stars!!! All-in-all a perfect night!
Exellent, everything, just superb! Food, service, just a lovely place to eat, drink & be happy. Definately come back herr, many more times, it is that creativ & delicious! Can definately recommend Rio by Paulo Andre!
Such a lovely place, the people are so unbelievably nice and the food is amazing! All the courses were well balanced and perfectly executed. We came in hungry and left satisfied and surprised by the quality of the service and food. We'll definitely come back to enjoy this amazing experience again.
Absolutely outstanding restaurant. The chef creativity and execution of the food was incredible. The service was impeccable, very knowledgeable staff. Daniel was great! We tried the Scallops, which were divine. We then the octopus which was also very good. These were matched with Sidonio de Sousa sparkling wine. We then had the Sea Bass with clams risotto - this was an absolutely outstanding dish! Wow... Finally we tried the lobster with a delicious risotto as well. These dishes were matched with Insula Chao de Lavas, an outstanding wine, perfectly matching the dishes. Finally, we tried their version of the tiramisu...again what a version! Delicious and matching was the fantastic Vinho Madeira Borges! All in all an excellent dinner! Thank you to all the team..
After reading the reviews, our expectations were a bit high. The service was great, the interior design was pleasant as well as the music - both the selection of songs and the volume. The tables were a bit too close to each other so it was a bit uncomfortable trying not to hit the person sitting behind you, nothing too worrisome. We ordered the scallops to start. The octopus that came with it was really well cooked, I also enjoyed the sauce with sweet potatoes. I ordered the tiger prawns and my partner got the octopus. Both dishes were fine, I liked the prawns better. The tiger prawns were quite big and well cooked. The mussels with the lime emulsion were fresh but bland, I'd have liked it much more if there was some acidity to it. We really enjoyed the desserts - the 3 raspberry textures (the presentation and the taste were very pleasant) and the Guinness cake. The coffee was not an espresso shot, it was most likely a Nespresso capsule. For the food I'd probably give 4-4.5 stars but the service was great.
